Guam Visit

10.5.2014

Hey!

So yeah I am in Guam right now. We had a miracle and were all able to get into Guam for the training. No one had flights from Chuuk, Pohnpei, or Kosrae until the Thursday. So we almost didn't go. Not to mention there was a typhoon coming to hit Guam on Sunday night haha. The week was good, we finally got all the 14 missionaries (7 new trainees) to Chuuk on Wednesday and got them all out [to their areas] by Thursday morning. The new guys are all awesome! 4 are from Utah, one from Rexburg, one from England, and one from Wisconson. Elder Garae is training the Elder Joseph Smith from England, he has a strong English accent. Pretty cool. They are all super hard workers! And obedient. Which is just what our zone needs. Elder Robinson is going to Udot and I am super excited for him. He should learn Chuukese really fast since his trainer is Chuukese and he is the only white person on Udot. I am so excited for our zone, you guys have no idea. We are going to blow it up! It is a young zone, but that is exactly what it needs to be for the young ones to gain experience.

Elder Plocher is awesome, probably my favorite companion so far just because we bring the best out in each other and talk about a ton of things and we are just on the same page regarding the work. Companionship study is like my favorite thing now when I used to not like it at all haha. You pronounce his name Ploker. Like poker with an l in it. He is from Riverside California and will be going to UVU after his mission so I am stoked to continue our friendship after. He is two transfers older than me so we could be companions for a few transfers.

Guam has been good, the most favorite part of the weekend was definitely the meeting. Learned a ton of stuff. Just to help with the zone and all. We are on the up and up!! Big things will be happening in Chuuk. So since there was a typhoon warning, they cancelled all flights for today so we should be in Chuuk right now but they rescheduled our flight and we might not go back to Chuuk till Sunday...and it is shopping pday for missionaries in Chuuk so we might jump it to tomorrow and I am not sure how we will get gas for everyone to come in from islands...hopefully that works out! Well, I know this church is true, and I am so happy to be able to serve this zone. I know we can all apply the atonement and work as hard as we possibly can to be like Jesus Christ so we don't waste the amazing act he performed for us. I love this gospel. Thanks for all you do for me! The love keeps me going. I just want you to all know my life has changed...more than I ever thought it could. I wish I could live in Chuuk forever! But it is just a short time left to perform my labors so I am going to get after it. I love you all!

Angela's note: the typhoon has moved north of Guam so all is well!  The Zone Leaders usually drive a truck and pick up all of the outer island missionaries when they get to the main island for Pday.  The ZL then take the missionaries to the bank, and store to buy food for the month.  Hopefully the Elders worked something out to get where they needed to go!  The life of a Chuuk Elder!

oops..just got an email from Elder S!: actually to get the elders into the main island they have to take boats, we just have to send out the boats to get there. inner island have their own trucks!
